The kids chilly birthday party

Yes, Mother Nature laughed at us yesterday.  See, we had been planning a pool/ birthday party for the kids 4th birthday.  We KNEW it was going to be a hot one, since last year was chilly.  Hahaha!  Every time I looked at weather.com it showed the weather getting colder and colder.  We came to the conclusion that it wasn’t going to be pool weather so we rented a bounce house.  The day of the party was cloudy with very little sun, but that didn’t deter us from having fun.  The kids helped decorate before they went down for (no) naps.  Once they were down for their (no) naps, Don went and got the Tinkerbell cake that Gregory picked out.  I stayed home getting the food ready and finishing decorating.  People started arriving around 3, so we got the kids up.  They were a bit tired and shy at first, but  once they woke up and got into the swing of things everybody was having fun.  The bounce house was a huge hit. We even got kids playing outside a bit.  There were 9 kids ranging from 3 yrs old to 11 yrs old.  Everyone found something to keep them entertained.  Drawing, beading, playing soccer, doing bubbles, playing cars, or bouncing.  We did pin the tail on the donkey…what fun with little kids.  Even the older kids got into it.  We had cake and did presents.  What chaos that was!  We started up the BBQ around 6 and had about 16 people stay to BBQ with us.  What fun!  Mom and Patty put two tired, wired, chatty birthday kids to bed, though I don’t think either Abigail or Gregory slept for quite a while.  The hardest part was cleaning up.  Even that wasn’t bad, since we could do some of it while chatting to folks.  I can’t imagine how we would have done this party at our old house… there wouldn’t have been enough room.  Here, we had people out front bouncing, in the kitchen, munching, in our “formal” playroom zooming cars around, and out back playing with bubbles. Plenty of room for all…though I’m hoping we get a hot birthday for the kids next year.  Thanks to all those who helped celebrate it was fun!
